The viral clip has understandably left\u00a0Lakers\u00a0fans and analysts enraged, especially since Russell went scoreless in the game, going 0-for-7 from the field.<\/p>\n<p>Former NBA star\u00a0Jay Williams\u00a0let it rip on Russell on the April 26 episode of\u00a0\u201cGet Up\u201d on ESPN.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know if he\u2019s on his cellphone, or if he\u2019s eating snacks \u2014 I don\u2019t know what the hell it is,\u201d Williams said. \u201cAs a former player, I always try to defend players and talk about things from their position. But while you\u2019re in a playoff battle, even if there\u2019s only 3.5 minutes left and your team is out of it, you still have one more game left.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor D\u2019Angelo Russell to check out of a game that way, and not even be involved in the team huddle, gives me major concern,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n<h2>Playoff Meltdown<\/h2>\n<p>Wiliams then pointed to Russell being \u201ca detriment to the Lakers\u201d in two of the three playoff games with his poor shooting and inability to play defense. As such, Williams feels the best course of action for the Lakers would be to get rid of Russell<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want him on my roster,\u201d Williams fumed. \u201cBecause I want everyone pulling in the same direction, and if things get hard, and you\u2019re not willing to lean in more, I can\u2019t have you be a part of what we\u2019re trying to build.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NBA analyst Stephen A Smith also sounded off on Russell being a bad teammate on the April 26 episode of \u201cFirst Take\u201d on ESPN.<\/p>\n<div id=\"f197688b461f5252be141e7781ddf1ab\" class=\"embed_container\">\n<div class=\"tweet-container\">\n<article class=\"tweet-container_article\">\n<div class=\"tweet-body\">\n<p>.@stephenasmith sounded off on D\u2019Angelo Russell missing the Lakers\u2019 huddle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLeBron James doesn\u2019t deserve a teammate like that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2>Deja Vu for Lakers Fans<\/h2>\n<p>To Williams\u2019 point, Russell has been a no-show for the Lakers in two of the three games against the Nuggets,\u00a0shooting\u00a032.6 percent from the field\u00a0and 30.8 percent from three-point range. For one, Russell is expected to decline his player option worth $18.7 million for the 2024-25 season, making him an unrestricted free agent.
