What Role Morgan Frost Play In 24-25?

Philadelphia Flyers center Morgan Frost had a movie-worthy redemption arc in the second half of the 2023-24 season, overcoming numerous trade rumors and healthy scratchings to prove his worth to the Flyers.

He’s still an easy target for trade rumors, but all signs have been pointing to Frost being in Philadelphia for the upcoming season as he continues to show how valuable he is the Flyers’ offense.

So, assuming that Danny Briere doesn’t pull off a surprise deal in the remaining summer months, what role should Frost play in the 2024-25 campaign?

As one of only a handful of NHL-ready centers in the Flyers organization, Frost will have quite a bit of responsibility up front. While team captain Sean Couturier still has juice in the tank, he’s not getting any younger, and at 25 years old, all eyes will be on Frost to see if he can shoulder the weight of being the 1C for the organization.

After that meeting with head coach John Tortorella, Frost took off offensively and proved doubters wrong night after night. The vision he has on the ice is unlike anything his teammates bring to the table—he sees chances that nobody else does, and finds ways to create space that leave fans wondering, How on earth did he do that?

He was a victim of incompatible linemates at certain points in the season, but even when his chances weren’t able to translate into goals, the skill was still evident. With the imminent arrival of Matvei Michkov this season, the offense as a whole will be elevated, but if these two get put on a line together, there’s really no telling what kind of magic they could create together.
