DC actor addresses the possibility of working with James Gunn again in the DCU. James Gunn joined the DCEU towards the end of the now-defunct franchise with The Suicide Squad, which led to its streaming spin-off Peacemaker. Just a couple of years later, Gunn became the CEO of DC Studios and will oversee the entirety of the new DC Universe, which encompasses movies, television, and video games. One of the shows that make up the DCU’s first chapter, “Gods and Monsters”, is Peacemaker season 2, which soft-reboots the titular character but mantains certain connections to his DCEU origin.
Speaking to Screen Rant, Flula Borg, who played the anti-hero Javelin in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, reveals whether it’s possible for him to work with James Gunn on a DC project again. The actor neither confirms nor denies a specific project, but explains that the idea of joining a Gunn-made project is enticing. Read Borg’s comments below:
Flula Borg: To speak of chances, I love mathematics, so I’m just going to say the chances I hope are greater than zero. Because working with James Gunn was a very wonderful experience. He is the dopest, and a wonderful world to play in is the mind of James Gunn. In the real dimension, James Gunn’s brain is where you want to be.
How Flula Borg Could Appear In The DCU After His The Suicide Squad Role
Flula Borg’s Javelin Can Still Return In Other DC Projects
As expected from Javelin and other Z-list anti-heroes like Javelin, Savant, Blackguard, and Mongal, most of Task Force X died a brutal death at the beginning of The Suicide Squad. Gunter Braun a.k.a. Javelin was slightly luckier than most of his fallen teammates, as he was only shot to death and survived long enough to gift his javelin to Harley Quinn, who eventually took down Starro with the weapon. Despite his death, Javelin can return in the DCU as a new version of the character, with a similar appearance and abilities, but with a backstory that excludes his failed mission with Task Force X.
Otherwise, Flula Borg can play a different DCU character with more interesting abilities and a story with more potential for future appearances. Nathan Fillion’s TDK is one of the Task Force X members who died at the beginning of The Suicide Squad, yet James Gunn cast Fillion as the Green Lantern Guy Gardner for the DCU’s first live-action project, 2025’s Superman. Similarly, Flula Borg could play a secondary character in any of the DCU’s upcoming projects, from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow to Peacemaker season 2 itself.
Flula Borg and Javelin can also return separately. As Borg plays a different character in the DCU, Javelin could show up in one or two DCU projects, interacting with other heroes and villains. Waller is a DCU show that could include either, as Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller may or may not have recruited or at least set her sights on obscure villains and anti-heroes like Javelin. Either way, if Flula Borg and James Gunn find the right story, the DCU reboot might not be a problem for Borg’s return.
