VANDERPUMP Rules star Katie Maloney has given an update on her sandwich shop Something About Her she owns with co-star and friend, Ariana Madix.
The Bravo star recently sat down with Danny Pellegrino for his podcast Everything Iconic.
On Wednesday’s episode, Katie, 37, discussed her shop and how “everything is out of their hands.”
The VPR star said, “[West Hollywood] permits are their own governments. They go on their own timeline of things so when you’re getting inspections, you have to wait for somebody to come out.”
Katie went on to explain that it’s a long process of having people come out to her shop and make sure everything is up to date to be approved by the city.
“It is just jumping through hoop after hoop after hoop. It’s not a simple one and done,” she admitted.

However, Katie did confirm that her and Ariana’s, 38, business is still expected to open.
Going into more juicier details, Danny asked if there was any drama between the former Something About Her chef, Chef Penny Davidi.
“Oh, yeah,” Katie said in a low tone, revealing that something was going on behind the scenes. “Well, I mean. I don’t want to talk about it.”
Chef Penny is not involved with Something About Her, The U.S. Sun can confirm.
As of now, Ariana and Katie have a different relationship with their former chef unlike what was shown on the March 26th episode of Vanderpump Rules.
During the clip, Ariana, Katie, and Penny sat down together and interviewed more potential Something About Her employees.

However, Ariana and Katie seemed a bit annoyed as Penny was asking all of the questions.
“I feel like me and Katie should be the ones asking most of the questions considering its our sandwich shop,” Ariana said in a confessional.
Speaking with The U.S. Sun, a source revealed that if Penny “was more involved” in the restaurant-opening process, Something About Her would have been opened by now.
“Penny hasn’t been as active recently because Ariana and Katie wanted to be on the front end of things and be more hands-on. But Penny has always been a supporter and will continue to be a supporter,” the insider said.
They continued by stating that Penny would always be there for them if they needed her help.
“[Penny] certainly could have had this open a long time ago. She poured her heart and soul into it, and she is a constructive person who also has an immense level of experience and expertise in the industry.
“Having a lot of good relationships with the city and with operators in the restaurant space, Penny would have had Something About Her open already if Ariana and Katie reached out for help,” the source concluded.
Over the last few weeks, Bravo fans wondered if Penny’s trademark filings resulted in more delays.
In an exclusive interview with The U.S. Sun, the lawyer on the trademark and Penny’s husband, Jonathan Lee Borsuk, confirmed that it’s not the reason that the shop isn’t open yet.
The Something About Her trademark is owned by Penny through her company Put a Fork in It LLC.
“There were conversations about several logistical steps to getting the restaurant open and the brand protected.
“Penny had said, ‘Look, one of the things that we should do as a partnership is establish trademark protection,'” he explained.
“Katie and Ariana said, ‘Yeah, that would be great if you do that.’
The trademark was filed in August 2023 and is currently still pending approval.
