During the San Diego Comic-Con panel for Superman & Lois, star Tyler Hoechlin expressed his desire to play another hero in the DC Universe. The Teen Wolf star has played the role of Clark Kent in several different DC programs, beginning with an appearance on Supergirl in 2016 before reprising the role in Arrow, The Flash, Batwoman, and Legends of Tomorrow. By the time he was given his own series in Superman and Lois, the actor had become well-used to the iconic superhero role.
With Superman and Lois coming to an end, however, Tyler Hoechlin has opened up about his desire to play another hero in the DC Universe. During a panel at Comic-Con, the actor was asked if he would like to play another DC character. Hoechlin responded: “Am I allowed to say this? We’re not coming back for another season – Batman, there… I love Batman.” Following this statement, he also expressed desire in playing a DC villain, believing that it “would be fun” after a significant legacy of portraying a major hero in the Arrowverse.
Superman & Lois’ Elizabeth Tulloch Also Expressed Interest In 2 Potential DC Roles
Like her co-star in Superman and Lois, Elizabeth Tulloch also spoke about taking another role in a DC project. Adding to Hoechlin’s desire to play Batman, she said that she would love to appear beside him as that universe’s Catwoman. With a long legacy of excellent performers in the role, including Michelle Pfeiffer and Zoë Kravitz, Tulloch could make for an excellent, unique take on the character. In addition, Tulloch also said that she would be interested in playing Superwoman when asked about the potential role.
It is unclear if either of these characters will appear in the DCU. DC seems to have cast a Catwoman replacement in Peacemaker season 2, so it is unclear how high a priority Selina Kyle may be the for the universe. In addition, with Superman and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow being the two first movies in the universe, it seems unlikely that a Superwoman would also be introduced so soon alongside them. Notably, however, the earliest iteration of Superwoman is Lois Lane after a blood transfusion, so Tulloch would be perfect for the role.
With the Creature Commandos trailer cementing the start of DC Studios in December 2024, there are sure to be many significant roles being cast in the near future. James Gunn clearly has respect for the television side of things, leading to rumors of Grant Gustin being potentially added to the DCU. As such, it would not be surprising if the studio was looking to other Arrowverse performers to fill out their roster, and Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch would be among the best choices from that extended cast to reappear in the DCU.
