Thomas Ravenel publicly apologized to Olivia Flowers after claiming she hooked up with him to get on “Southern Charm.”
“I’d like to make a statement about my interview concerning Olivia Flowers. I was not trying to hurt her,” the former politician wrote via X (formerly Twitter) Friday.
“When I thought the interview was over, I stupidly made what I thought was a self-deprecating remark that ‘MAYBE she used me.’”
He continued, “I had no idea that would be the story and I sincerely apologize to her. I have the utmost respect for her as a person and friend. It was a stupid throw away line and I regret it.”
After their drunken one-night stand was exposed on the Season 9 reunion, the former politician claimed in an interview with All About The Tea that Flowers didn’t know anyone in the Bravo universe before they crossed paths.
“She used me! Olivia was in Atlanta pursuing an acting career and she wanted to get on that show (“Southern Charm”), that’s why she befriended me,” he claimed, saying he reached out to her when he was also in town for his nephew’s wedding.
“She was 24 years old (at the time) NOT 20, like she claimed on the reunion,” he further alleged.
“It was a fun evening and one thing led to another after she invited me to her condo,” he continued. “After that night, I never called her again. It was a one time deal.”
Ravenel — who was on the show from 2014 to 2018 — added, “I would have never acknowledged having sex with her until they brought me up at the reunion.”
In his apology, Ravenel said his intention with the interview was to clarify the timeline of their hookup, denying that he had cheated on Kathryn Dennis with Flowers, 31.
Dennis and Ravenel — who share two kids — were on and off from 2013 to 2016. As for Dennis and Flowers, they have been close friends since 2021.
“I was mostly trying to get the facts straight which proved she didn’t betray her friendship with Kathryn Dennis,” he commented.
Ravenel, 61, was forced to revisit their past after it was brought up during the “Southern Charm” Season 9 reunion on Jan. 11.
Flowers and former best friend Taylor Ann Green were in the middle of an explosive discussion about the latter’s hookup with Austen Kroll when the truth came out.
“Forgive as you would want to be forgiven,” Green told Flowers, subtly hinting that she had done something similar in the past.
“Go ahead and say it. I already see what you’re trying to do,” Flowers snapped back. “You’ve been hanging this over my head. I wanna see it. Say it. Say it.”
While holding a smile, Green responded, “The whole Thomas situation.”
“Thomas Ravenel?” host Andy Cohen asked.
“Yeah,” Flowers said. “I was fresh out of college, 20 years old, dumb drunken night, one time, had a hookup with T-Rav, and I wanted to take to my grave. Who wouldn’t?”
Flowers then clarified that she didn’t know Ravenel’s ex and her now-friend, Dennis, when the hook-up happened.
As for Dennis, she proved that she had no hard feelings for Flowers, reassuring her pal that did she “nothing wrong.”
“We have never been closer, you did nothing wrong and don’t need to worry about being judged by me ,” Dennis wrote via Instagram alongside photos of Flowers following the reunion.
