The Golden Bachelor contestant Susan Noles officiated Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s Golden Wedding, but their divorce has now ruined her perfect record of successful marriages as a wedding officiant. Gerry and Theresa met, fell in love, and got engaged during The Golden Bachelor season 1. They were married by Susan on January 4, 2024, in a live, televised event. However, on April 12, 2024, they shockingly made the announcement that they were getting a divorce after they couldn’t decide where to live because neither one of them wanted to leave their family.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Susan joked about how Gerry and Theresa’s divorce affected her record as a wedding officiant. She said, “They ruined my marriage thing. I mean, I had no divorces.” Susan added, “My record was perfect.” Susan became great friends with Gerry and Theresa during The Golden Bachelor, despite the fact that at one point she was competing with Theresa for his heart. However, Susan and Gerry’s relationship developed into more of a strong friendship than a romance. She also became close friends with Theresa during and after the show.

Susan Noles Isn’t Throwing Gerry & Theresa Under The Bus

Susan revealed that Gerry and Theresa are “doing good” since they announced their divorce. However, when asked about whether she was surprised by Gerry and Theresa’s split, Susan didn’t answer but instead pretended to zip her lips. She seemed to be taking the advice that her best friend Kathy Swarts gave to Theresa when she told her to “zip it” in regard to her relationship with Gerry when she thought that Theresa was boasting about their connection.

Susan did a beautiful job as the Golden Wedding officiant. She brought both heart and humor to the ceremony. She was genuinely happy for Gerry and Theresa. Susan has been a supporter of Gerry and Theresa through the good times and the bad, and she continues to be a loyal friend to them. Since The Golden Bachelor, Susan has been one of the frontrunners to be the first-ever lead of The Golden Bachelorette because of her kind, fun, and hilarious personality.

It’s also nice to see that Susan is only speaking positively about Gerry and Theresa. As one of their close friends, she probably does know more about the breakup than others, but it’s refreshing to see that she’s remaining tight-lipped about it. Susan knows that it’s not her place to talk about what happened but instead is being a source of encouragement and comfort to her friends, just like she’s always been. Susan is a truly genuine and wonderful person.
