The Tennessee Titans have done a lot of work to bolster their defense this past off season, after moving in a different direction at head coach from Mike Vrabel, who is known as an elite defensive coach.
Just because they moved on from their head coach, That has not stopped them all from making major defensive moves all of season. Most recently the team is bringing in another star safety to bolster their already strong secondary.
Tennessee Titans Add Another Pro Bowler At Safety
The team has now added another notable star for its new revamped defense. The team has signed 3x Pro Bowler safety Quandre Diggs to a one year deal worth up to five million according to ESPN.
It is a $3 million base salary and $2 million in incentives. Diggs, now 31 years old, started his career with the Detroit Lions, before making his way to Seattle. He was a three time Pro Bowler in three consecutive seasons with the Seahawks. Diggs’ Pro Bowl streak ended last season even though he had another monster year totaling: 95 tackles and an interception in 17 games last season.
Diggs has totaled 24 career interceptions, two defensive touchdowns, 56 passes defensed, five forced fumbles and 580 tackles in ten total seasons. He still has tons of good football in the tank undoubtedly and he will be teaming up with his former star teammate Jamal Adams. The Titans have made so many moves on defense, and it may have gotten them the best secondary in the entire NFL.
Tennessee Titans May Have The Best Secondary In Football
As mentioned, the team has brought both Diggs and Adams in at safety both of whom are multiple time Pro Bowlers. They have also played tons of football together so they can pick up right where they left off in Seattle.
That is just the tip of the ice berg however, as the Titans signed one of the best cornerbacks in the game in L’Jarius Sneed. Sneed was fundamental in the Chiefs previous two Super Bowl victories, and he can come in a be dominant with all the right players around him.
Sneed is joined by another very solid cornerback in Chidobe Awuzie. He could be lined up opposite sides from Sneed with both Diggs and Adams at safety. Even that right there could be one of the best defensive groups in the NFL this year.
Additionally the team brought in both linebacker Kenneth Murray and defensive tackles Sebastian Joseph-Day and T’Vondre Sweat. The Titans will have a whole new defensive scheme under defensive coordinator in Dennard Wilson.
