From getting into tax trouble to getting on the Internet to blast their mom, it’s been a busy week for the stars/former stars of the Teen Mom franchise! In an effort to bring you up-to-date on the latest Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Teen Mom and Teen Mom 2 news, The Ashley brings you the Teen Mom News Pile.
Here are some of the major (and minor but interesting) ‘Teen Mom’-related things that happened over the last week or so…
Jenelle Evans Vows to Never Film for ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’ with Her Estranged Mom Barbara; Accuses Barb of Selling Her Out to the Media
Jenelle hit social media on Monday to blast her mom, Barbara, for allegedly selling a story about Jenelle and her kids to the media. In the post, the newly rehired ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’ star accused her mom of trying to make her look like a bad parent.
The story in question— which was posted by The Sun on Monday— focused on how Jenelle’s oldest son, Jace, is unhappy that Jenelle moved him and his siblings to Las Vegas from North Carolina. (As The Ashley previously reported, Jenelle has been living in Las Vegas for the last few months in a rental house that’s very close to the home of her manager/soulmate-in-training August Keen.)
(The Ashley would like to point out that, while some of the info in the story was correct, there was some incorrect information in the article. For instance, Jenelle is, indeed, temporarily back in North Carolina as of press time but The Ashley’s source tell her that only Jenelle’s soulmate-in-training, August Keen, and Jace came on the trip. Jenelle’s two youngest kids are still in Las Vegas.)
Although Barbara wasn’t named in the story as the source of the info, Jenelle assumed it was her mother who blabbed to the tabs, so she went to social media to send Barb a message and let her know that any progress they had recently made in rekindling their relationship is now gone.
“You haven’t seen my children in months and you want to act like you know every emotion they are feeling… lying to the world again and starting BS just to make me look bad and you better?” Jenelle wrote. “I don’t get it. Act like my mother first and maybe then I will begin to build a relationship with you again.. but for now you completely destroyed anything we ever had as mother and daughter.
“Just when you want to be in my life again you sell me out to the media,” Jenelle continued. “You’re dangerous and never one to be trusted. Now I understand why your own sister wants nothing to do with you. The only one you’re hurting is the one you try to protect. Your evil intentions are shining bright and he sees it…trust me.”
Jenelle then went on to shut down many fans’ dreams of getting Barb back on their TV screens, stating that MTV can’t pay her enough to film with her mom for ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter.’
“And no, there’s never going to be enough money in the world to make me want to film with you,” Jenelle wrote. “Get that idea out of your head. Stop begging for the attention, my life has been so calm without you and David in it.”
Later on X, Jenelle responded to comments about her post, telling one person that her mom’s alleged actions “makes me sick to my stomach all day.”
“I’m literally upset because she is blasting lies about my son’s mental health… that’s far from putting myself first. Has nothing to do with me,” Jenelle told another person on X who accused her of putting herself before her kids.
“It’s about myself and my family’s anxiety level,” Jenelle told someone else. “Any person in my situation would feel a level of uncomfortable stress… duh.”
Catelynn Lowell & Tyler Baltierra Reportedly Facing Foreclosure on Their Octagon Farmhouse
‘Teen Mom’ stars Catelynn and Tyler have reportedly pissed off Uncle Sam yet again.
On Tuesday, The Sun broke the news that the couple is in danger of losing the historical octagon-shaped farmhouse they lived in while shooting ‘Teen Mom OG.’ Although Catelynn and Tyler no longer live in the house, they still own the property, which they have been trying to sell for almost a year without any luck.
According to records uncovered by The Sun, Catelynn and Tyler’s home is in currently in pre-foreclosure, due to them not paying the property taxes on the house for the 2022 tax year. A Certificate of Forfeiture of Real Property was filed in March 2024, stating that Tyler and Cate will lose the property if they don’t pay the taxes they owe on the home which, at press time, total just over $5,000.
“On March 1, 2024, the following real property was forfeited to the Sanilac County Treasurer for non-payment of property taxes for the year 2022,” the document stated. “If the 2022 taxes are not paid by March 31, 2025, absolute title to the property and any equity associated with an interest in the property will vest in the foreclosing governmental unit.”
The house was purchased by Catelynn and Tyler for $220,000 in 2017. As of press time, the couple has the home on the market listed for $449,900. The price has been reduced at least once since the house went up for sale in August 2023.
This is not the first time Catelynn and Tyler have faced tax troubles. The ‘Teen Mom’ couple— who had been buried in tax debt for years– finally managed to pay off their massive tax liens in January 2023. At one time the couple owed more than $856,800 in unpaid taxes.
Chris Lopez Insists He Didn’t Know What He Was “Getting Into” When He Began Dating Kail Lowry; Admits Her Buying Him Things Clouded His View
Kail’s third baby daddy Chris recently had a lot to say about the former ‘Teen Mom 2′ star (as per usual). During a Instagram Live rant, Chris— who has been publicly at odds with Kail for years on- and offline— addressed fans’ claims that he should have known how Kail treated her men before he dated her. Chris also admitted to enjoying the perks of dating a rich reality TV star.
Chris insisted that he didn’t know what he “was getting into” by dating Kail, even though several of her previous relationships— including those with her other baby daddies, Jo Rivera and Javi Marroquin— played out on ‘Teen Mom 2.’
“But I didn’t! Because I didn’t watch [‘Teen Mom 2’]. Believe it or not, guys, I did not watch that show,” Chris insisted. “Why would I watch that show? It had nothing to do with me. One, I’m a male, so that didn’t relate to me. I didn’t have no kids, so why would I watch the show?”
“No I did not know who this person [Kail] was, and that’s the thing,” he continued. “How many people can relate to an image they put on? Later down the line you see who the real person is… I didn’t see the real side of [Kail].”
Chris admitted that he got a lot out of dating Kail— and he was not talking about their two sons, Lux and Creed.
“I jumped in because of what I was experiencing and what I was gaining from that experience,” Chris said. “But what [Kail was] buying me in that experience took away from what they actually were [like].”
During the Instagram Live rant, Chris also hit out at Kail’s current beau, Elijah Scott, who is the father of her youngest three kids. (As The Ashley previously reported, Chris leaked the news that Kail and Elijah are allegedly engaged and set to get married next month.) He addressed recent comments made by Kail on her Baby Mamas No Drama podcast, about how she regrets the last names she gave some of her seven kids.
“Someone sent me a clip about a certain individual talking about last names,” Chris said. “It was crazy to me. Blew my f**king mind!…For those that don’t know, my kids don’t got my last name. My firstborn [Lux] doesn’t have my last name. He actually had my last name taken from him and was given a name that, it’s pretty funny, [Kail] just went online and was bitching about, a name [Kail] really doesn’t even want….it’s not [Kail’s] name.”
(Both Lux and Creed were originally given Chris’ last name of Lopez. Kail eventually changed Lux’s last name to Lowry. After Creed’s birth in 2020, Kail changed his last name, too, and he was given the last name Lowry-Lopez.)
In 2020, Kail explained why she didn’t want Lux and Creed to have Chris’ last name.
“There have been periods of time where I felt like he doesn’t deserve to have his last name passed down but … in a situation like this, I don’t know what’s right or wrong,” she said in 2020. “Maybe I should have just hyphenated both [of our kids’] names and called it a f**king day? When they’re old enough, they can decide which name they want. But I do feel like [getting the father’s last name] is earned.”
Chris stated on Instagram Live that Elijah— who lives with Kail and has been an active father since his kids were born—should have, by Kail’s own words, “earned” the right to have his last name given to their kids. (Kail has confirmed that all of the kids she shares with Elijah— Rio, Valley and Verse— have the last name Lowry.)
“The crazy thing is, if you look at my [court] paperwork and look at why my last name got changed on my kids, it’s because they said I didn’t claim my child,” he said. “…But the crazy thing is that the man has been, supposedly, in there, lived there [with Kail and the kids], yet he doesn’t even get his children named after him! And y’all keep on thinking I’m the bad guy.”
