Bachelor Nation’s Tayshia Adams shared her thoughts on Gerry Turner & Theresa Nist’s divorce, issuing a warning to Bachelor fans who have been commenting mercilessly on their split. Tayshia, who originally appeared on The Bachelor season 23 with Colton Underwood, became a bigger part of Bachelor Nation when she took over for Clare Crawley when sheleft The Bachelorette season 16 early with Dale Moss. Tayshia ended up engaged to Zac Clark during her season, but the couple split just a year later. Though Tayshia wasn’t part of a successful Bachelor couple, she ended up helping co-host the series later on.
“My heart goes out to them, especially because I’ve been divorced.”
In an exclusive interview with People, Tayshia shared that she empathizes with Gerry and Theresa over the public criticism they’re facing after announcing their divorce just three months after their live TV wedding. “I don’t think you ever go into that thinking that’s going to be the end result,” Tayshia explained. “My heart goes out to them, especially because I’ve been divorced. I know what that pain and feeling is like. But then having it amplified in the public eye, it’s really tough.” Tayshia shared that she understands what Gerry and Theresa are going through, and hopes Bachelor Nation can empathize.
Tayshia Adams Claims There’s Behind-The-Scenes Drama Fans Didn’t See
While Tayshia wasn’t involved in the production behind The Golden Bachelor or the aftermath of Gerry & Theresa’s wedding, she explained that there was likely behind-the-scenes drama between the couple that viewers aren’t privy to. “For it to come to that decision, it’s probably really tough,” the former Bachelorette explained. “I love that everyone likes to give their love and their speculations and whatnot, but I feel like this is probably just a thing to leave to them,” Tayshia shared. While she appreciates Bachelor Nation for its speculative nature, she explained it’s probably best to leave Gerry & Theresa’s divorce to them.

Tayshia, who has kept her private life to herself since leaving The Bachelorette and ending her relationship with Zac, explained that privacy can be hard to come by in the public eye. While it was obviously Gerry and Theresa’s choice to go on reality TV to find love, their romance being so deeply public became an issue in their relationship quickly. Gerry, who is originally from Indiana, and Theresa, who lives in New Jersey, were rarely spotted together outside of public events, which made their relationship questionable to Bachelor Nation. Still, they deserve their privacy in such a difficult time.
Though Gerry and Theresa’s Golden Bachelor romance didn’t wind up lasting for the rest of their lives, the couple have both explained they will savor the memories of their relationship forever. For former Bachelor Nation participants like Tayshia, there’s an understanding of where the former couple is coming from. Though many Bachelor Nation connections don’t stand the test of time, their relationships are sometimes deeply complicated, and end up sticking with the former Bachelor leads and contestants for a lifetime.
The Bachelor is available to stream on Hulu.
