Tamra Judge gave an update on her estranged daughter Sidney – and agreed with some of her Real Housewives of Orange County castmates that Shannon Beador should go to rehab following her DUI accident and arrest.
In the 2016 reunion, Tamra said Sidney chose her father Simon Barney’s side after their heated divorce in 2011. According to Tamra, Sidney told her she didn’t want to live with her, as she had ruined Simon’s life. Since then, the mother and daughter have not repaired their relationship.
In an interview for Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast, Tamra shared an update on Sidney, now 24.
“She is reaching out to her brother and sister now, so that’s good news,” said Tamra. “So we do have some progress.”
Tamra appears to be hopeful for a future reconciliation.
“She’s doing amazing and — without crying, guys — that’s all I can wish for as a mom. She’s very successful, she’s in the film industry as well behind the camera. So she’s doing amazing things with her life, and that’s all I can really wish for,” added Tamra, before alluding to a potential reunion. “I mean, I can wish for more … but it’s on God’s hands really, God’s timing.”
Tamra dished on the reintroduction of her other daughter Sophia to the show, now that she’s 18 and doesn’t need Simon’s signature to film.
“It probably scared the s—t out of me more than anything because Sophia’s so amazing. And I thought, ‘Oh gosh, she wanted to be on the show the whole time, but her dad would not sign,’” said Tamra. “When she started filming, I noticed … she ain’t acting like she’s normally acting. So I noticed that she’s very nervous about filming … So you’ll see a difference from Sophia in the beginning and Sophia toward the end of the season. She opened up, she relaxed, she had a much better time.”
On the same podcast, Tamra addressed Emily and Gina’s claim that Shannon should have chosen rehab after her DUI.
“I do think she needs to go to rehab,” said Tamra. “But I do think that she needs to acknowledge the fact that she needs to go to rehab. She can’t just go because people are telling her to go … She has to go because she wants to stop drinking.”
But Tamra doesn’t believe Shannon has “hit rock bottom yet,” or is “willing to [go to rehab].”
She then addressed Shannon’s claim on the show that she now only has two drinks when she goes out.
“You can’t [be] somebody that has a drinking problem and say, ‘Well, I’ll just have two,’” said Tamra. “It doesn’t work like that.”
Speaking in a past interview for E! News, Shannon stated that Tamra has “no right” to challenge her habits with alcohol.
“She has had no part of anything that I have done since my DUI. None. In fact, she left town the day after my DUI, I hear that she’s saying, ‘I was there for her and I did this.’ No you weren’t,” said Shannon. “Who made you the judge and jury of what I should and shouldn’t be doing in my life? Focus on yours, because I’m focusing on mine.”
