One of the Superman & Lois showrunners teases the return of a beloved Arrowverse actor in the final season of the DC TV show. The CW’s time with the DC brand is coming to an end this fall as Superman & Lois season 4 will bring a conclusion to Greg Berlanti’s franchise. Set to premiere with a two-hour launch on Thursday, October 17, Superman & Lois season 4 will be going out with a bang as they adapt The Death of Superman.

In a new interview with IGN, Superman & Lois co-showrunner Brent Fletcher shared some new clues about Tom Cavanagh’s upcoming guest gig in the final season. Fletcher addressed the rumors of Cavanagh playing the Reverse-Flash in Superman & Lois season 4, saying the following about Cavanagh’s impending appearance:

Brent Fletcher: The Tom Cavanagh character is someone you’ve never seen him play before and it’s the most Tom Cavanagh character ever, it’s a lot of fun.

Who Could Tom Cavanagh Be Playing In Superman & Lois Season 4?

With Reverse-Flash out of the equation, it begs the question of who Cavanagh will actually be playing in Superman & Lois season 4. Even though Fletcher says it is the “most Tom Cavanagh character,” it wouldn’t be shocking if he was playing a new Harrison Wells. This would also be a nice way to give a nod to the larger Arrowverse, while also making it a plot twist that there is still a Harrison doppelgänger out there in the multiverse despite the Arrowverse’s Crisis on Infinite Earths.

If there is anything that Cavanagh proved throughout his time on The Flash, it is that he can play a very vast range of characters, which is why it was always interesting to see what was going to happen to him every season, since he would consistently play a new version of Harrison. Even though he will only be in one episode of Superman & Lois season 4, it is bound to be memorable nonetheless. The bigger mystery, however, is whether or not he will play an original character or someone from the Superman mythology.

As the Superman & Lois marketing is underway for the final season, time will tell if viewers will get a glimpse of Cavanagh’s new character. Given that it is supposed to be for the Superman & Lois series finale, it is likely that a first look won’t be happening for him until the final month of the show’s airing. But for now, viewers can catch the first two hours of Superman & Lois season 4 on Thursday, October 17, at 8 PM ET.
