Throwing epic parties is part of the job at Summer House. If you’re part of that cast, you have to be ready for themed parties galore. Decorating for those parties, however, is a whole different beast. According to West Wilson, fellow newbie Jesse Solomon struggled in that department last year.
Stumped by a piñata
In Season 8 of Summer House, West did a killer job of transforming the house for a doomsday party. Apparently, Jesse was absolutely no help in making the party come to life.
“It took Jesse six weeks to learn how to put up one single decoration last summer,” West jokingly told Us Weekly. “So we had to teach him that.”
At least they were willing to teach him. By the end of the summer, Jesse still wasn’t quite an expert, but he could at least hang a thing or two. That’s better than nothing.
“He walked around with a piñata for 40 minutes and we were like, ‘Dude, go hang it up and then grab some more stuff,’” West recalled. “So you just learn.”
As the resident newbies, learning is something they’re both doing together. For example, West said that coming into the Summer House world in Season 8 meant they had to get extra creative with their themes. The OGs like Kyle Cooke and Carl Radke have already done it all.
“It is hard now though. They’ve all been in this house for eight years, and there’s not a zillion-themed parties,” West explained. “So coming up with unique party ideas requires a good collaborative effort.”
Bravo hasn’t officially confirmed the full Summer House Season 9 cast, but it’s pretty clear that West will return for another round. If and when that happens, he said he already has some ideas for his next themed party. He wants to do a “goth night,” so Jesse better pack some guyliner and start practicing his decorating skills.
“That’s hard to decorate for,” West admitted. “I don’t know. You do rock band posters or something. I have no idea. But the look itself is sweet, like grunge. It’s awesome.”
Summer House is currently streaming on Peacock.
