Silver Knights Bring Back Veteran Goaltender On AHL Deal

The Henderson Silver Knights have re-signed goaltender Jordan Papirny to a one-year AHL contract.

The 28-year-old has been with the Vegas Golden Knights organization since the 2021-22 season where he was loaned out to the Silver Knights but didn’t receive any game action.

The past two seasons have been spent mostly in the ECHL for Papirny but he has played 12 games in the AHL. With the Silver Knights, he’s posted a 4-5-1 record with a .899SV% and a 3.14GAA.

The Edmonton, Alberta native has played in numerous leagues in North America and has had his fair share of team success. Papirny played five years in the WHL, making just over 200 appearances and winning a WHL championship with the Brandon Wheat Kings in the 2015-16 season. He then began his U-Sports career with the University of Calgary before playing in the ACAC. He won the ACAC championship in 2022 en route to earning ACAC Player of the Year honours. He made a few starts in the ECHL during his ACAC career before signing with the Silver Knights.

With the loss of Jiri Patera, the Silver Knights will lean on Akira Schmid, Jesper Vikman and Carl Lindbom this season to make the bulk of the starts but Schmid will be on stand-by for the Golden Knights if either Adin Hill or Ilya Samsonov sustain injuries. Papirny will be the veteran goaltender the young prospects will lean on throughout the season.
