For NFL players, it can be easy to get distracted in the offseason. Some of them hope to do exactly that with their time off. One New Orleans Saints veteran is already focused on getting back on the football field for the 2024 NFL season, though.
Saints’ Cam Jordan already looking ahead to 2024 training camp
Even two weeks ahead, Jordan is already focused on practice. He’s been enjoying the summer time off, assuredly, but he seems to be ready to bounce back in 2024. The Saints need him to perform if their defense wants to be at its absolute best.
Jordan was, simply put, extremely disappointing in 2023. He dealt with a handful of ailments, which certainly did not help his case. Regardless, he’d be the first to tell you that there is no excuse for his major fall of in production.
After eleven straight seasons of at least seven sacks, Jordan totaled just two sacks in 2023. The entire Saints pass rush struggled, a key reason they added Chase Young in free agency. Jordan helped recruit him to The Big Easy, signaling that he is confident in the potential pass rush duo.
Not to mention, Carl Granderson may just be the best player off the edge for New Orleans right now. If Jordan can get back to 6-8 sacks and Granderson continues to be solid, New Orleans’ defense should really take another step forward.
Saints edge rushers were recently snubbed from the position’s top ten rankings via ESPN
The rankings were voted on by NFL coaches, scouts, and executives. They clearly don’t see a bounce back coming from Jordan. In fact, none of the pass rushers in New Orleans excite them right now.
You can’t blame them for that after 2023, either.
All in all, it’s a great sign that Jordan seems to be chomping at the bit to get back on the field. He’s a veteran with plenty of doubters that he must prove wrong in 2024.
