The New Orleans Saints added plenty of talent during the 2024 NFL Draft. One of those intriguing rookies was taken on day three. Big-bodied wide receiver Bub Means joined the Saints depth chart.
He’s expected to compete with A.T. Perry for a key depth role on the offense for New Orleans. That competition may have to wait after the latest news regarding Means, though.

Means’ injury situation is not believed to be serious, according to Ross Jackson. Rather, there is not much concern regarding his status. Means will be eligible to return to practice at any time. The Saints can activate him at any time.
Underhill also noted that the team expects Means to be “good to go” quickly, so this move is just precautionary, seemingly.
Means can play notable offensive role for Saints in 2024
For New Orleans, Means can play a major role for them in 2024. A.T. Perry had some splash plays in 2023, but he certainly has not done anything to lock down a consistent role in the offense as a downfield target.
As for Means, his jump ball catch ability and unique size can project nicely into the Saints offense. They are going to push the ball downfield more often this year under OC Klint Kubiak, especially using play action.
The WR had a breakout season in 2023 for Pittsburgh. Means led the team in receiving with 721 yards and 6 touchdowns, earning him an Honorable Mention All-ACC recognition. That put him on draft boards for this year’s draft.
Expect Means to get some reps to prove himself in 2024. This injury is seemingly a minor setback for the rookie wideout.
