Werner was selected by the Saints in the 2nd round (60th overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft.
After suffering an ankle and hamstring injuries during the 2022 season, Werner bounced back in 2023, logging a career-high 93 tackles (60 solo), playing at least 70 percent of the Saints’ defensive snaps in 14 regular-season games last season.
In his 3 seasons with the Saints, he has 235 tackles (152 solo), 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, and 1 interception.
This extension will keep Werner in New Orleans through the 2027 season, with the Saints locking up one of their key pieces on defense.
