The Rogers Charity Classic golf tournament in Calgary will host the second annual Rogers Legends of Hockey competition, featuring 16 stars and alumni from the NHL and PWHL.
The event will take place on Aug. 17 and the hockey players will compete for a $250,000 prize for a variety of Rogers Birdies for Kids charities.
“We’re thrilled to be bringing together some of hockey’s best for this year’s Rogers Legends of Hockey golf competition in support of children and youth across Alberta,” said Terrie Tweddle, Chief Brand and Communications Officer at Rogers.
The athletes will be paired up and competing in a closest-to-the-pin bracket competition. The teams are:
– Erin Ambrose, PWHL Montreal defenseman and Canadian Olympic gold medallist and Luke Schenn, Nashville Predators defenceman and two-time Stanley Cup champion.
– Cassie Campbell-Pascall, two-time Canadian Olympic gold medallist and special advisor to the PWHL and Darcy Tucker, Canadian World Juniors champion and 16-year NHL veteran.
– Emily Clark, PWHL Ottawa forward and Olympic gold medallist Emily Clark and Brayden Schenn, St. Louis Blues captain and Stanley Cup champion.
– Sarah Fillier, PWHL New York forward and Canadian Olympic gold medallist teams up with Jake Debrusk, Vancouver Canucks forward.
– Jayna Hefford, four-time Canadian Olympic gold medallist and PWHL chairperson will pair up with Edmonton Oilers goalie and NHL All-Star Stuart Skinner.
– Meaghan Mikkelson, two-time Canadian Olympic gold medallist and Calgary Flames on Sportsnet radio analyst and Dustin Wolf, Calgary Flames goaltender.
– Laura Stacey, Canadian Olympic gold medallist and PWHL Montreal forward Curtis Joseph, three-time NHL All-Star.
– Corinne Schroeder, PWHL New York goaltender will team up with Grant Fuhr, NHL Hall of Fame goaltender and five-time Stanley Cup champion with the Edmonton Oilers.
The tournament will be hosted by Ron MacLean and Kelly Hrudey from Hockey Night in Canada at the Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club.
“I’ve been lucky over the years to get to know some of hockey’s greatest legends, and most of them seem to have two preferred off-season activities – playing golf and giving back to their communities,” said MacLean. “What a tremendous event in that sense — 16 of hockey’s brightest stars competing in a shoot-out style golf event to benefit children and youth across Alberta.”
