Get your cryangle ready. The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 8 Reunion, Part 2 has arrived, and sheesh. It was quite the emotional rollercoaster as the ladies dished on divorce, death, and DMs that went ignored. Last week, Andy Cohen set an intention for the women to move past their nonsensical drama and work toward finding a path forward. During Part 2 of the Season 8 reunion, the women continued trying to find those paths. The results varied. Here’s what went down during the RHOP Season 8 Reunion, Part 2.
Mia put it all on the table
The reunion resumed with Mia trying to explain her current state of affairs. In Part 1, she talked about how Inc, her new boo, thinks that her son Jeremiah is biologically his. A simple paternity test would put this to rest for good. However, Mia said that she feels pretty confident that Jeremiah is Gordon’s son. She made it sound like Inc’s paternity claim was more like wishful thinking.
Earlier in the season, Karen accused Mia of sleeping with a rapper. During the reunion, she admitted that she was talking about Inc. However, Mia once again reminded us that he is a radio personality. He’s not a DJ. He’s not a rapper. He’s a radio personality, and he’s in 20 markets.
Side note: Nneka might have had the funniest line of the night when she said that Mia was in 20 markets, too. Mia was trying to explain her living arrangement with Gordon when Nneka made the quip, that it seemed like no one else heard. We love a sniper from the side.
During the reunion, Mia also added more context to the timeline between breaking up with Gordon and rekindling her flame with Inc. She made it clear that she didn’t leave Gordon for Inc. Her separation from Gordon was because of his abrasive personality, and she claimed it had nothing to do with money, Inc, or anything else we might have suspected.
So, what’s next for the estranged husband and wife? Mia that she can’t legally file for divorce until June 2024. Mark your calendars.
Gizelle reflected on her emotional Season 8 journey
Whether you love or hate Gizelle, you have to admit that she had an incredibly emotional journey throughout Season 8. First, we watched her navigate sending her oldest daughter to college. Then, at the end of the season, she learned that her dad was hospitalized. He passed away after the season wrapped.
Over the years, Gizelle hasn’t necessarily been the most emotional Housewife. She’s stoic, and she oftentimes uses her humor to disarm. Her journey this season showed a new side.
Andy gave Gizelle some time during the reunion to reflect on her dad’s passing. It felt important to honor him, and it illustrated where the real friendships lie in this group. Robyn attended the homegoing celebration. Karen, who lost her mother a few years ago, volunteered to bring food for Gizelle’s daughters. With as much drama as the women deal with and as much vitriol that is spewed at this cast online, this segment felt like a good reminder that our Real Housewives are human.
Outside of the emotional storylines Gizelle discussed, there was also a little bit of petty drama they had to wade through. Gizelle’s biggest issue was how Wendy and Candiace were “making faces” as she talked about her daughter going to Florida for college.
Gizelle asked, “Why would anybody be making faces while I’m talking about my daughter?”
For this subject, there wasn’t much accountability. Candiace doubled down on the notion that Gizelle “weaponizes” her daughters. Meanwhile, Wendy claimed to have shared some positive words with Gizelle about her daughter’s college decision. Gizelle said it never happened, and the producers said the footage didn’t exist. Make of that what you will.
Candiace cried her way through
Candiace may have broken a new record for most tears cried during a reunion. There weren’t enough tissues in the studio to support the amount of waterworks she produced. It felt concerning to witness.
In the first part of the reunion, she cried when they asked her to explain her beef with the Green-Eyed Bandits. In this episode, she cried when Gizelle spoke about her late father. When Andy put the spotlight on Candiace to talk about her Season 8 arc, she cried some more.
Ultimately, Candiace didn’t have a ton of stuff going on this season — most of her solo scenes took place in her living room. She juggled the decision of whether to focus on growing a family or continuing to push her music career. Of course, we know she chose the latter.
Candiace also faced a health scare this season after finding a lump in her breast. During the reunion, she tearfully revealed that the mysterious lump shrunk down on its own. That’s a blessing!
Can Robyn and Candiace move forward?
In the spirit of trying to find a path forward, Candiace tried to add some color to her ongoing feud with Robyn. We learned that after last year’s reunion, Candiace casually sent a DM to Robyn and was shocked to learn that Robyn was upset with her.
Candiace claimed that Robyn ignored her for weeks. When the news dropped about Juan’s questionable behavior, and Robyn seemingly hiding it from the show, Candiace said she had no choice but to attack her castmate on social media.
During this reunion, Robyn explained that she felt like Candiace was trying to get her fired from RHOP. Robyn also said she was extremely hurt and “uncomfortable” by the colorism accusations and the comments Candiace made about Gizelle having white privilege. Once again, we were back to rehashing Season 7’s drama and Candiace’s social media antics.
When the ladies started wading back into the colorism conversation, Gizelle proclaimed that she was proudly Black and never afraid to talk about race. Candiace clapped back and said that Gizelle only talks about race “when it benefits her.”
As the colorism conversation began to take hold, Karen said that there was “no better group of Black women on the Bravo network” to have the discussion. Wendy disagreed. She argued that The Real Housewives of Potomac “don’t have the range” to have that type of discussion.
If that’s the case, why did we bring it up in the first place? This felt like a missed opportunity. Andy and the RHOP ladies could have dug deep into the root cause of some of the problems in this group. Instead, they kept the conversation at surface level.
Here come the husbands
At the end of Part 2, Andy brought out the husbands. Most of the men of Potomac got all gussied up to come to support their wives. Juan decided that he had more important things to do instead of supporting his wife, so Robyn sat alone.
Gizelle also sat by herself, which we’ve all grown accustomed to at this point. Andy did ask her about the status of her “relationship” with Winter House star Jason Cameron. She said that more or less, they’re friends with benefits, and they’re both seeing other people.
With Juan glaringly missing from the lineup, Andy asked the men, “Why is it important for you to come and support your wives?”
That should be an easy question to answer. Gordon, of all people, was the first one to jump in and answer. He simply wants to show up and support Mia. The fact that their marriage fell apart yet he still showed up with a brave face to support Mia says a lot about Gordon.
Part 2 of the reunion ended with Gordon gearing up to share some type of announcement. He said it’s something that a lot of us have “suspected.” Bravo teased that this announcement would drop in Part 2, but we were misled. Next week, we’ll finally hear what he has to share, and we’ll wrap up Season 8 once and for all.
The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 8 reunion concludes next Sunday on Bravo at 8/7c.
