Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Dorit Kemsley, 45, was held at gunpoint and robbed Wednesday night during an invasion at her Encino Hills home while her children, ages 7 and 5, were in the house.
Three men broke into the residence just before 11 p.m. PT while she was asleep, a source close to Kemsley told DailyMail.com.
Kemsley had only just returned from a trip to London, where she attended her nephew’s wedding on Tuesday night alongside her husband, PK Kemsley.
PK was still abroad at the time of the attack and is now headed back to California to be with his wife, who is said to have been ‘traumatized’ by the incident.
The source said Kemsley’s only focus during the invasion was to protect her children.
The unknown intruders entered the home around 10.50pm by smashing through the children’s classroom door.
Two of the suspects walked into Kemsley’s bedroom while she was sleeping. She woke to them standing at the end of her bed.
They grabbed her as as she begged: ‘Don’t hurt my babies. Don’t kill me. I’m a mother.’
To which one of the men responded: ‘Kill her.’
The intruders proceeded to ransack the house for about 20 minutes, stealing all of Kemsley’s jewelry and handbags.
They did not enter the bedrooms belonging to her children and no one was injured during the incident.
After the intruders left, Kemsley contacted police and her husband, who was in London at the time.
Los Angeles police said the identity of the suspects and value of stolen property remains unknown. The Robbery-Homicide Division is investigating.
Kemsley’s RHOBH cast mates Erika Jayne, Lisa Rinna and Teddi Mellencamp have rallied around her after learning about the robbery.
The group was pictured arriving to her home on Thursday, hours after the 20-minute home invasion ordeal.
Jayne was seen looking up at Kemsley’s home upon arrival while Rinna and Mellencamp arrived shortly after.
Kyle Richards arrived later in the day as well.
Not seen were fellow RHOBH co-stars Garcelle Beauvais, Kathy Hilton, Sutton Stracke and Crystal Kung Minkoff.
Earlier Thursday, Kemsley’s assistant was seen walking in a hooded sweatshirt alongside an unidentified blonde.
The reality star appeared to be on her phone and kept her head down as she walked.
It is unclear where the pair was headed.
Meanwhile, RHOBH was slated to start filming Thursday.
There is now a question mark over whether Kemlsey will be moving forward with the current production schedule.
Kemsley first joined the RHOBH cast in 2016 after having moved to Los Angeles the year prior.
The Connecticut native gained fame in the late 2000s after she moved to New York City and launched her swimwear line, Dorit International.
Kemsley’s brand focused on providing consumers with high-quality, comfortable and fashionable bathing suits.
In 2017, she launched Beverly Beach, an affordable swimwear line made in Los Angeles. Two years later, the brand expanded to include athletic-wear and other accessories.
Kemsley met PK while she was living in New York. The couple shares two children, a 7-year-old son, Jagger and a daughter, Phoenix, 5.
PK and Kemsley attempted to sell their luxurious $6.5million Encino mansion in September 2020, just months after moving in.
The couple had listed the swanky modern farmhouse, located in an elite area of the Valley, for a whopping $9.495million with the help of Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles realtor David Parnes.
The couple wanted to sell their home because they were ‘going to run their businesses from their house,’ a source told DailyMailTV at the time.
Jagger and Phoenix were also being home schooled so the Kemsleys were ‘looking for a larger estate that is laid out for this new COVID world we find ourselves in.’
The home’s stunning interior features an open floorplan, lots of natural light and what Kemsley once called her ‘dream kitchen’. The house also has an expansive outdoor space.
The picturesque backyard features a cushioned set of patio furniture and a row of deck chairs arranged around an inviting swimming pool.
Along with the pristine in ground pool, the backyard features a full playhouse, including a tunnel slide and monkey bars for the kiddos.
On the other end of the outdoor space there is even a basketball court – perfect for getting in some exercise amid social isolation.
For entertaining, the yard has a high-end grill and outdoor food prep space and plenty of seating space under a covered patio. There’s also a covered outdoor living room with a mounted TV.
In video previously posted to social media, Kemsley said that the heart of the home was her happy place.
‘Definitely my favorite room in the house … our kitchen,’ she gushed. ‘I’d say it’s my dream kitchen.’
‘It’s where we have our meals. The kids will watch some TV or hang out while I’m cooking. It’s where the magic happens,’ the reality star said at the time.
The gourmet space features a stone-topped island and a bar that separates the kitchen from another living room.
Next to the kitchen is a cozy dining table nestled in an alcove with lots of natural light thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows.
The master suite has a stunning view of the yard and is decorated with pops of vibrant emerald green along with a large black and white photo of Kemsley and PK.
Modern bathrooms made of black and white marble give the home a spa feel – not to mention the master bath’s deep soaking tub.
Kemsley and PK scooped up the house in August 2019 for $6.475million while trying to sell their mansion overlooking Beverly Hills.
The Beverly Hills property, nicknamed Villa Dawn, was first listed 2017 for $12.75million after the couple had purchased it in 2016 for $6.565million.
