Nearly 10 years after splitting from the 50-year-old Real Housewives of Atlanta alum, with whom he shares two children, Apollo, 45, was charged with domestic violence and simple assault after Sherien accused him of getting physical with her amid cheating claims.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch Weekly on July 25, Sherien called police on Apollo, 45, on March 11 after returning home from a bar, where she enjoyed three alcoholic beverages with some friends, and getting into an argument with Apollo about how “they were cheating on each other.”
In the police report, it was noted that Apollo had presented Sherien with a video in which was seen kissing another man. At that point, he allegedly “pulled her by the hair and pushed by against a refrigerator” as a “shuffle” ensued.
Although Sherien ran outside and called for help, she later returned to get her phone. But Apollo had already left. Then, after police arrived at the scene, Sherien showed them surveillance of her and Apollo’s verbal altercation.
As for their reported physical altercation, the report confirmed that was not caught on camera.
Once Apollo returned home and spoke to the police, he admitted to trying to take Sherien’s phone amid their argument and she fought back by covering it with her body. He then said he was ultimately able to gain possession of the home but later returned it to his wife.
While Sherien turned down medical attention and did not have any signs of injury, including any marks or bruises, Apollo was taken into custody, where he posted a $3,000 bond and was released hours later.
Months later, in June, Apollo was officially charged with one misdemeanor count of simple battery.
“I, Keith E. Gammage, Solicitor General for the County of Fulton, State of Georgia, in the name and on behalf of the citizens of Georgia do hereby charge and accuse APOLLO EDWARD NIDA with the offense of SIMPLE BATTERY – FAMILY VIOLENCE, a misdemeanor, for that said accused in the County of Fulton, State of Georgia, on or about March 11, 2024 did intentionally make physical contact of an insulting and provoking nature with the person of Sherien Copes, who is the present spouse of accused, by pulling her by the hair and pushing her,” court documents stated.
In a statement to In Touch Weekly this month, Sherien confirmed she and Apollo were in a better place after their March encounter.
“It was a huge blow out between a married couple that has brought us much closer since then. We have worked through our issues and have been going to couples therapy. The end,” she stated.
As of 2023, Apollo was on probation for a case stemming from crimes of bank fraud and identity theft and it is not known if he was granted his request for an early release from the program, which he filed months prior to his and Sherien’s fight.
It is unclear if Apollo has entered a plea in regard to his latest charge.
