The Carolina Panthers probably just let out a huge sigh of relief late this afternoon.
As first reported by Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer on Sunday, and seconded by Joe Person of The Athletic, an MRI revealed that rookie wide receiver Xavier Legette has not sustained a fracture to his foot. The 2024 first-round pick, who exited practice early this morning, is considered day-to-day.
Head coach Dave Canales labeled the issue as a “lower leg” injury to reporters following Sunday’s session of training camp. To that point, he did not know the seriousness of Legette’s status.
“Yeah, it’s something in his lower leg,” Canales said. “I don’t wanna get into any details. We’re just gonna evaluate him this afternoon as a precaution, and then we’ll go from there. I’ll have more information for you guys.”
Legette has already missed some time this offseason, as he sat out the bulk of organized team activities and the entirety of mandatory minicamp due to a hamstring strain.
