We are nine months away from the 2025 NFL Draft and yet, there is already a consensus selection for the Raiders. Over the last several weeks, Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders has become the favorite to be selected by the Raiders in Round 1.
It makes sense as the Raiders have a clear need at quarterback and are likely to be drafting inside the top 15 picks. And with Sanders likely to be the No. 2 or No. 3 quarterback off the board, he is a perfect fit for the Raiders in the middle of Round 1.
In a recent mock draft done by Ian Valentino of the 33rd Team, he wrote about the possibility of the Raiders selecting Sanders in Round 1. Here are his thoughts on the possible pairing during the 2025 NFL Draft:
The hot takes around Shedeur Sanders will be nauseating. We know he’s a hard worker who has improved massively since entering college, and he possesses high-end accuracy and playmaking ability.
If his pre-snap processing and quick game improve, he can be the first quarterback off the board and project close to a top-10 NFL passer.
It’s worth noting that Sanders’ dad and head coach, Deion Sanders, recently said that he would like to see his sons drafted by the Raiders. And he has been very open about which teams should and shouldn’t select Shedeur in Round 1 in next year’s draft.
Sanders is a pocket passer who reminds scouts of Geno Smith coming out of West Virginia. However, many are hoping that he can show off his athleticism more during the 2024 collegiate season, which would improve his stock.
Keep an eye on Sanders during this upcoming season as he should be one of the top options for Las Vegas in Round 1 in 2025.
