TheGolden Bachelor star Gerry Turner’s daughter, Angie, is addressing the “rage and cruelty” that some Bachelor Nation members have directed at her father and Theresa Nist after they announced that they’re getting divorced after three months of marriage. Gerry and Theresa met, fell in love, and got engaged during The Golden Bachelor season 1. They then got married in a live, televised event called the Golden Wedding on January 4, 2024. However, just three months later, Gerry and Theresa shared that they were getting divorced because they couldn’t decide where to live because neither one of them wanted to leave their family.
” What has been disheartening is the level of rage and cruelty that our family has been met with .”
In an Instagram post, Gerry’s daughter, Angie, addressed Bachelor Nation’s backlash towards Gerry and Theresa.
Angie said, “I love how invested people were in the show, what an experience to have you along for the ride!” However, she added, “What has been disheartening is the level of rage and cruelty that our family has been met with. My Dad and Theresa are kind, good people that made this decision for them, no one else. I kindly urge everyone to remember that behind every story, there are real people with real feelings.”
Angie Turner Agrees Gerry & Theresa’s Divorce Was The Right Thing
Angie Believes That “Everything Always Works Out In The End”
Angie concluded the post by thanking people who’ve chosen to show Gerry and Theresa love and compassion. She included a quote in her post that said, “Everything always works out in the end.” Angie also shared a clip from Dear Shandy podcast co-host Andy Levine, who she said “really nailed this sentiment.“ In the video, Andy said that he believed that Gerry and Theresa’s romantic connection was real. He added that they should be given credit for ending their relationship so soon. Andy thought that they were fair to everyone by ending their relationship instead of “milking” it for a year to gain more fame.
Bachelor Nation has speculated that Gerry and Theresa were never in love, and their relationship was fake for the show. However, people seem to have forgotten that Gerry is a widower, who suddenly lost his wife, Toni, six years ago to a bacterial infection after 43 years together. Gerry and Toni had two daughters, Angie and Jenny. Although it’s been revealed that Gerry did date after his wife’s death, taking the step to marry Theresa was a huge change for him and his family. They must not have taken it lightly, especially after Toni’s passing. The same is true for Theresa, who lost her husband, Billy, nine years ago.
Although The Golden Bachelor is a TV show, and Gerry and Theresa opened their lives up to public scrutiny by appearing on it, there’s no place for cruelty. The harsh statements by some viewers about the divorce are uncalled-for, and Angie is right that they should consider that Gerry and Theresa aren’t actors, but real people who are going through a very difficult time. Their marriage might not have lasted, but the hope for finding love that they gave to people of all ages was a gift. People should remember this, and, above all, be kind.
