During a recent podcast interview, Rachel Lindsay opened up about being ‘scared’ after engagement to Bryan Abasolo on The Bachelorette. Keep reading to find out more.
Rachel Lindsay Reveals She Never Thought She’d Marry Bryan Abasolo
Rachel Lindsay married chiropractor Bryan Abasolo in 2019, two years after they met on Season 13 of The Bachelorette. The season is currently streaming on Hulu if you want to relive their love story.
Unfortunately, it didn’t end in happily ever after. He abruptly filed for divorce in early 2024 after four years of marriage. The divorce proceedings quickly turned ugly as the former couple duked it out in court filings and text messages.
The former Bachelorette was a guest on the Getting Grilled with Curtis Stone podcast earlier this week. According to Rachel Lindsay, she didn’t plan on marrying anyone from her season.
“After that first night, I was like, there’s potential here, but I still was like, there’s no way I’m gonna marry this person.”
She reflected on her surprising initial reaction to getting engaged.
“I can’t say exciting was the word. I was scared. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, now I have to tell my parents that I got engaged,’ because when I left to go do The Bachelor, I was like, ‘Don’t worry, I’m not going to fall for any of these men,’ and I did, so I was so terrified to tell them.”
She added that she didn’t say much after accepting the proposal because she was “weirded out.”
‘Scariest Day’ After Engagement
Rachel Lindsay admitted that she eventually discovered she had a lot in common with Bryan Abasolo and they were “good together.” But getting to that point wasn’t easy.
“And even when you get engaged at the end… it’s the scariest day when the cameras shut down…You have this ring on your finger, and there’s this man, and for the first time, you ride in the car together, you’re going to the same hotel room together. It’s like – this is the beginning of your new life.”
Former Bachelorette Dishes On Dating After Divorce
Rachel Lindsay didn’t sign a prenup before marrying Bryan Abasolo, which she admits now was a huge mistake. She will literally pay for that mistake for an undetermined amount of time. The divorce hasn’t been settled yet, but a judge ordered her to pay her ex $13k a month in spousal support.
She isn’t officially divorced yet, but Rachel is already looking toward the future. She talked about the scary idea of dating again.
“Dating is a big chapter. So that’s gonna be new. That’s a whole new experience, because I haven’t done it really since my twenties.”
The former Bachelorette candidly revealed that she still hopes to have children and a family someday.
