Tyrese Maxey and the Philadelphia 76ers are in a tight spot. They can’t lose a game in their first-round series against the New York Knicks if they are to keep their season alive. Moreover, their next game will take place in the Big Apple, where they will be playing in front of a boisterous Knicks fanbase ready to explode every time they make an error on the floor.
All that being said, Maxey is not losing hope in his team. In fact, he believes when it is all said and done in the series, it would still be the 76ers clinching the ticket to the next round.
Philadelphia 76ers Star Tyrese Maxey Has No Quit
Even though the Sixers trail the Knicks in the series, 3-1, Maxey is brimming with confidence, an aura he said that his teammates also carry.
Via Brian Lewis of the New York Post:
“Yeah, extremely confident,” said Maxey. “It’s a confident group over there honestly, just because we’ve been through a lot this year. And we know that. So when adversity hits we know how to bounce back from it. And we feel that we’re very capable of winning three games in a row. I’d say that’s first and foremost.
It’s all about taking things one at a time for Maxey and the 76ers., whose three losses to the Knicks in the series are only by a combined scoring margin of 15 points. In Game 4 in Philly, the Sixers lost by just five points, 97-92.
“And we’ve been very, very, very close in a lot of these games, Game 2 and [Game 4] for sure I feel like we should’ve won. So we’ll take that confidence over there and try to go win. That’s all you can do. We’ve got to try to go get one game in the Garden and come back here, get one game, then we’ll see what happens in Game 7.”
Needless to say, Maxey is a key component of the 76ers. Together with Joel Embiid, Maxey will look to help his team turn things around when they play Game 5 at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.
