Paige DeSorbo doesn’t have baby fever — at least not yet.
The Summer House cast member made this clear in a recent interview with the LadyGang podcast, just weeks after her castmate Lindsay Hubbard announced she was expecting her first child. Paige told the hosts she didn’t feel pressure to start a family with her Southern Charm beau, Craig Conover; in fact, she claimed they hardly discussed the matter.
“Honestly, me and Craig rarely talk about when are we getting engaged, when are we having a baby,” she revealed in the July 23 episode. “Of course, we’ve had those conversations, but it’s not as much as everyone else is having them. So we don’t really get that stressed out about it. All of my girlfriends are pretty much married… but no one’s had a baby yet. So I don’t feel like I’m behind with everyone.”
Paige DeSorbo says she’s focusing on her career
Paige said she couldn’t imagine settling down at this stage in her life, as she feared starting a family would distract from her career and professional wins.
“When [women] do get married and have babies, people look at you different and they treat you different,” the New York City-based influencer said. “I didn’t want to be doing Giggly Squad, putting out a book, going on tour, and everyone would be like, ‘So you’re planning your wedding. Like, where are you doing it?’ I didn’t work this long just to like give it to a guy, basically.”
Paige reminds fans she & Craig have been dating for only a couple of years
Paige also pushed back on the notion that she and Craig were dragging their feet on getting engaged. She said many people mistakenly believe that the relationship is much older than it seems, mostly because reality TV can affect people’s perception of time.
“It seems like me and Craig have been dating for so much longer than we have,” she explained. “It seemed like, oh my God, they’ve been together for like years and years when in reality we’ve really only been dating for two and a half years.”
Does Paige DeSorbo want to have kids someday?
Paige also pointed out that Southerners typically settle down much sooner than New Yorkers, which might explain why Craig is a bit more eager to take the next step. Although she’s clearly in no rush to start a family with Craig, Paige insists children are in her future.
“I’ve always known I wanna have kids. That is definitely a priority in my life,” she said. “I also know myself. I know the moment I give birth to that first child, you’ll never see me again. That’s it. I’m home. I’m in the bed. Like I can’t wait for that. And so I think partly that’s why I am like, I don’t wanna do that right now. Like, I wanna work, enjoy my career, work really hard. Because I know that next part of my life is coming and when it comes I wanna be ready for it and I wanna be so immersed in it.”
