It was originally reported a few hours before the official report by CommonManKFAN, that Dean Evason will be named the new Head Coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
On Monday, the Blue Jackets announced the hiring of Evason to a multi-year deal. The team opens the 2024-25 season on the road in Minnesota to face the Wild.
When asked on Tuesday’s media availability what it will be like to face the Wild to start the season, Evason responded by saying “They fired me last year. Of course it means something.”
He continued by saying “It’s bull when coaches say otherwise facing a former team.”
Nonetheless, it seems the former Wild coach is fired up to open the season back in Minnesota against the Wild where he coaches for parts of five seasons.
He went 147-77-27 in 251 games with the Wild and brought the team to the playoffs four times in his tenure.
