Norman Reedus teases the “best hour of Walking Dead ever” in Daryl Dixon season 2

Prepare yourselves, Walking Dead fans. Norman Reedus teases “the best hour of Walking Dead ever” is coming our way!

The Walking Dead has more than 300 episodes across 25 seasons after over a decade on our screens, but according to Norman Reedus, nothing comes close to the Daryl Dixon season 2 finale.

In the years since The Walking Dead came to a conclusion, AMC has continued to invest heavily in the franchise. Firstly, we saw Dead City, an Escape from New York-style series following Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Most recently, we saw the return of beloved duo Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) in The Ones Who Live.

And then there’s Daryl Dixon. The Norman Reedus-led spinoff takes place across the North Atlantic in a post-apocalyptic France. The first season gained superb reviews that commended everything from its stellar cast and setting to an original, fresh story. By the end of season 1, Daryl had the opportunity to return to the United States, but ultimately decided to remain in France, favoring his newfound community situated in famous commune Mont Saint-Michel.

In season 2, Melissa McBride returns to our screens as Carol for the first time since the series finale of The Walking Dead (well, besides a brief cameo in the Daryl Dixon season 1 finale). She too heads to French shores in search of Daryl, after getting hints of his whereabouts. Check out the latest teaser:

For McBride, the process of returning to her beloved role felt seamless. “It was a little weird, but then again it wasn’t, because both of our characters are very adaptive,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “It was kind of like riding a bike. We knew where she was, knew what she wanted, what she was trying to do. So that part was easy.”

However, one thing McBride had to adapt to was displaying a different side of Carol. While we don’t know what causes a switch to her mindset, McBride teases a more fearless character:

“She is determined. But it’s a different type of fearlessness that’s driven by her determination to find her friend — and also by the headspace that we find Carol in, which will be revealed.”

As for Norman Reedus, he’s revelling in the opportunity to take The Walking Dead Universe to places it has never forayed before. The notion of doing something different was the catalyst that compelled him to make the show in the first place. “Melissa and I and everybody else wanted to do something new,” he explained. “This was a real opportunity to take all these elements that make this show and these characters so compelling, and make something brand new and fresh. And that’s what we did.”

The risk paid off massively. In fact, he promises big things in the season 2 finale. “I think the finale of season 2 is the best one hour of Walking Dead anything ever,” he teased. “And I’ve been here since day 3, so for real, it’s my favorite one hour of Walking Dead anything.”

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 — The Book of Carol premieres September 29 on AMC.
