The NHL made a statement on their social media on Thursday regarding Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes.
On their Public Relations account on X, the National Hockey League shared a thread featuring statistics and interesting facts on captains in Vancouver Canucks history including the team’s current leader, Quinn Hughes.
In their post, the NHL discussed Hughes’ franchise record-setting season in just his first year wearing the ‘C’ in Vancouver. Hughes finished the season with 75 assists and 92 points, both of which were franchise records among defencemen in Vancouver Canucks history.
“Quinn Hughes had an inaugural season as @Canucks captain to remember, falling just eight points shy 100 in 2023-24. #NHLStats” The NHL PR account said.
“Quinn Hughes, the 15th captain in franchise history, concluded his first season with the ‘C’ – a campaign he finished with records for assists (75) and points (92) by a Canucks defenceman.”
As we head further into the summer and towards training camp, which begins in roughly nine weeks, Canucks fans are looking forward to seeing what Quinn Hughes has in store for the 2024-25 campaign. There’s no doubt he’ll reach the 85-point plateau at least, but many wonder if he could become the seventh defenceman in NHL history to record 100 or more points in a single season.
