Former Boston Bruins forward Austin Czarnik is continuing his hockey career overseas. SC Bern of Switzerland’s National League announced that they have signed Czarnik to a deal.
Czarnik, 31, appeared in 34 games this past season with the Detroit Red Wings, posting one assist and a minus-3 rating. He also played in 38 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins in 2023-24, recording 10 goals and 28 points.
Overall, Czarnik was a serviceable depth forward over the last several seasons, but now he will have a more significant role with SC Bern. From here, he should be one of their key forwards.
After completing his collegiate career at Miami University, the undrafted Czarnik signed an entry-level contract with the Bruins in March 2015. From 2016-17 to 2017-18, Czarnik appeared in 59 games for Boston, recording five goals and 17 points.
Czarnik was an AHL star with the Providence Bruins, scoring 53 goals and 155 points in 157 games over four seasons.
