The NHL has made a statement on former Vancouver Canucks captain and Hockey Hall of Famer Henrik Sedin.
Captain’s Corner was the theme for the National Hockey League’s Public Relations account on X on Thursday morning, and they took the time to share some information regarding captains in Vancouver Canucks history, including the person to wear the ‘C’ in a Stanley Cup Final for the organization – Henrik Sedin.
In their post about Henrik Sedin, the National Hockey League shared that the 43-year-old, who had an incredible 2009-10 campaign, is the only player in franchise history to take home the Hart Trophy, which is handed out annually to the player who is the most valuable to his team.
“Henrik Sedin provided many memorable moments during his Hockey Hall of Fame career with the @Canucks. Which was your favourite? #NHLStats,” The NHL’s PR account said.
“Henrik Sedin, who owns the single-season franchise record for points (112), is the only player in Canucks history to win the Hart Trophy (2009-10) – the player adjudged to be the most valuable to his team.”
The Ornskoldsvik, Sweden native spent his entire 17-year career in the National Hockey League with the Vancouver Canucks where he amassed 1,070 points (240 goals, 830 assists) and 680 penalty minutes in 1,330 games. Sedin also had 78 points in 105 games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Henrik Sedin and his brother Daniel finished their careers in 2018 and went out on an incredible moment. The twins combined for the overtime winner on April 5th at Rogers Arena against the Arizona Coyotes, with Henrik assisting on Daniel’s goal, a common theme throughout their time in Vancouver.
