The National Hockey League has made a statement featuring Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes.
Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes had a season for the ages in 2023-24 and cemented himself in franchise history, setting the record for most points in a single season by a defenceman with 92.
In a social media post, the National Hockey League continued reviewing some of the more unique and impressive statistics from the 2023-24 campaign, and on Monday afternoon, Quinn Hughes was the next to be highlighted.
In their post, the National Hockey League shared that Quinn Hughes is only the 10th different defenceman in history to have 92 or more points in a single season, with the only two other active players to do so being Erik Karlsson of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Nashville Predators captain Roman Josi.
There’s no doubt that Quinn Hughes will be able to reach the 90-point mark again next season. The Canucks captain is just entering his prime and has many solid years ahead of him. Eventually, whether next season or the following year, he could become only the seventh defenceman in NHL history with 100 points or more in a single campaign.
While reaching the 100-point mark would be very impressive for Quinn Hughes, he has his sights on something much bigger – the Stanley Cup. The Vancouver Canucks had one of the best regular seasons in franchise history in 2023-24, winning 50+ games for just the third time ever. Next season, with the offseason additions they made, along with the growth of Hughes, Pettersson and others, the Canucks will take another step towards their first Stanley Cup in team history.
