Tom Girardi, a once prominent attorney, has had many eyes on him over the past few years. Part of this hails from his marriage to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Erika Jayne. But after a few seasons, Erika left her man. During her exit, the Feds snatched Tom up, accusing him of stealing funds from his client’s settlements, but his health quickly came into play as his team looked for every possible angle to try and help this man wiggle out of his crimes. His criminal fraud trial now looms, and like clockwork, another update on Tom’s health has arrived.

Tom Girardi’s pre-trial health update has arrived

Regarding Tom’s trial, many factors are at play. One of which is his health. At first, Tom’s lawyers tried claiming that their client was incompetent. This route worked for a few beats. But when the magistrate judge entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf, the prosecution said hold up, no, honey.

The prosecution clapped back, arguing that Tom was faking his declining memory problems as a hopeful escape route. The judge agreed. On Tuesday, January 2, 2024, Tom was declared competent to stand trial.

Now, a new health update on Tom has arrived. According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Robert Girardi, Tom’s brother, wants Tom housed within a secured residential care facility, based on his doctor’s recommendation. Robert is Tom’s conservator. He hired Helena Chui MD. to observe Tom, and their first session transpired on April 13, 2023.

On February 4, 2024, Helena observed Tom once again. As for her findings, she says Tom continues to struggle. He cannot recall the date or the year. She also says Tom has a hard time remembering his current life circumstances.

Convenient, no?

Tom has also lost his ability to reason logically, Helena notes. On the positive, Tom can still feed himself and get out of bed without assistance. However, dressing himself and bathing solo is a nope.

He also needs assistance with shopping, food preparation, housekeeping, laundry, and taking his medicine. But he can use a phone. Win some. Lose more.

Due to these findings, his doctor has scheduled a hearing this year, asking for a change in Tom’s living environment. As for his larger criminal fraud trial, this will still take place in 2025.

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is expected to return to Bravo, sans Tom Girardi, in late 2024 or early 2025.
