First launching in 2020, a new unusual dating infiltrated the scene: Love Is Blind. The highly-popular reality show follows several couples who each get to know each other without initially seeing each other. This gives the couples time to get to know each other on an emotional level first, rather than physically, in hopes of establishing a strong connection. However, the couples do eventually get to meet only after they get engaged, which has certainly kept swathes of fans entertained as they watch the drama unfold before their very eyes.
The show has proved to be immensely popular among avid reality TV fans, with the first season pulling in around 30 million viewers. However, despite the show doing its best to harbor successful relationships, not all of them end up working out. However, there is one cast member who seems to have some very specific regrets during his time on the show.
Zanab And Cole Seemed To Hit It Off At The Start Of Their Relationship
At the start of Zanab and Cole’s relationship, many fans seemed to think that the two hit it off together really well. Initially, the two formed a connection based on their shared beliefs with their faith.
However, despite seemingly having a strong connection after their pod meeting, things would slowly begin to crumble before fans’ very eyes. But what exactly happened?
As the couple spent time together, fans noticed that Cole would make comments on her food choices, with Zanab claiming that he was ‘body-shaming’ her.
She even mentioned during the episode that his comments had caused her to ‘stop eating’ during the filming period: “I stopped eating. I was eating a banana and a teaspoon of peanut butter just so I wouldn’t pass out on the long days we were filming.”
However, when the footage was actually aired, fans seemed divided over the controversy. Some even thought Zanab was ‘trying too hard’ and aiming for a Deepti-like result from Love is Blind.
In an interview on the Lauren Interviews podcast, Cole explained how he felt as though much of what he had said to Zanab had been taken out of context by the viewers.
During the podcast episode, he explained: “I was walking on eggshells because I knew there’s just trip wires everywhere. The moment I say one thing that hits her wrong, I’m now the worst.”
Of course, their relationship came to a fiery end at the altar, with Zanab finally revealing her true sentiments, leaving many viewers stunned.
During the episode at the altar, she stated that Cole has left her ‘feeling disrespected’ and claimed that he had ‘shattered her self-confidence’, which many fans felt was understandable.
Despite Cole feeling as though some of his remarks were taken out of context, there were still some moments that the reality star regrets from his time on the show.
Cole Regrets Some Of The Things He Said To Zanab
While the couple definitely shared their differences, there were some moments that cast member Cole actually regrets during his time on the show.
In an interview with POPSUGAR, Cole explains that he didn’t regret going on the show, but he definitely felt remorse and regret for some of the things he said to his ex-partner.
Cole said, “I don’t regret it, but I regret hurting her. I regret the aftermath of our relationship and how bad it was. But I don’t regret doing it because I didn’t intend, at any time, to hurt her. I think it came with the territory of the experiment and us not being compatible completely.”
He also added that now he doesn’t even want to watch the show again because it ‘wasn’t how he thought or felt’ about an issue, reinforcing his earlier statement that some things had been taken out of context.
In fact, he was so adamant about how some things were portrayed that he even asked producers to add certain scenes so that the show could be truly reflective of what happened. Sadly, it seems that there were many mixed opinions among fans.
Cole And Zanab’s Relationship Drama Was Nothing New
Relationship issues weren’t the only ‘scandal’ from Love is Blind, of course. While season three had numerous feuding couples, past seasons focused on frenemies who seemed to always be at each other’s throats.
One example of this is Amber Pike and Jessica Batten, who feuded during the first season of the show.
While tensions ended breaking up Cole and Zanab, there have still been plenty of successful relationships that have come out of the show. For example, Alexa and Brennan from Season 3 of the show are still together, as are Colleen and Matt are still married.
Season two’s couples eventually split, though the marriages did last past filming. Of course, anything could happen in the future.
