Basketball’s Kardashians, the Ball family, have been grabbing headlines since the late 2010s. This is mostly because the patriarch of the family, Lavar Ball, loves attention and getting his sons in the spotlight. Once the Bulls landed Lonzo Ball in a sign-and-trade deal, that spotlight shifted to Chicago.
Lonzo Ball Back With The Bulls In 2024?
When Lonzo Ball was healthy, the Bulls were one of the top teams in the East. Then, several months into his tenure with Chicago, Ball sustained a knee injury sidelining him ever since. Ball’s had multiple surgeries including one that no player has ever recovered from. But recently, Ball was seen moving and starting to get back in shape.
LaVar Ball went on 670 The Score and provided an update. He said Lonzo was four to five months away from playing 5-on-5 basketball. This estimate puts Ball ready about one month before the start of the 2024 Bulls season.
LaVar continued that Lonzo has a $20 million play option for the 2024-25 season with the Chicago Bulls. LaVar said Lonzo would make it a priority to resign with the Bulls. But he did slip in that Lonzo would try to play with his brother if the business side allowed it.
At the end of the day, this is LaVar Ball and we know he is usually there for the headlines. Lonzo’s actual status is likely still up in the air but LaVar could have something to base his comments on. If Lonzo Ball returns to the court — and comes anywhere near the same statistics he was averaging before — it would be a historic occurrence for the sports medicine field.
