On Tuesday, Team Canada announced that Julien BriseBois was added to the management team for the 4 Nations Face-off that is taking place next February. He’ll be serving in the capacity of assistant general manager, helping general manager Don Sweeny and associate general manager Jim Nill make the final decisions on which players will represent their country.
Pittsburgh GM Kyle Dubas was also added as the director of player personnel. Mr. BriseBois and Dubas will also be serving in the same capacities for the 2026 Olympic team. For the Lightning GM this represents his first foray into the international game as an executive.
No word yet on if he’s convinced Sweeny to trade Canada’s strategic maple syrup reserves to the U.S. for the international rights to Nick Perbix and Isaac Howard.

For the 2026 Olympics they’ll join Sweeney and Nill for similar roles.
“I believe Dubas and BriseBois will be strong assets to a well-rounded management team,” Armstrong said. “We believe their experience and knowledge of NHL players will be a great addition to our staff as we continue to evaluate Canadian players and build rosters for international competition.”
BriseBois has served as Tampa’s GM since 2018, and assisted in the success of their back-to-back Stanley Cup wins in 2020 and 2021.
In June, it was announced that Lightning head coach Jon Cooper would be the head coach of Team Canada. Cooper was originally named the head coach for the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, before the NHL decided not to send players due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The assistant coaches and support staff will be revealed in the coming weeks. The full roster is expected to be announced between Nov. 29-Dec. 2.
