Joe Mixon’s play on the field has steadily gotten less and less efficient over recent years. Still, he claims his production in Houston will be “night and day” compared to what it was in Cincinnati.
The veteran spoke with the media this weekend ahead of training camp.
“It’s a narrative to y’all,” Mixons said about his age. “But I mean the running backs that I see that’s close to 28-30-31-32 (years old), they’re balling right now. So my hopes are high. I know what type of player I am, and I’m not here to speak for everybody else, but in terms of me, I know for a fact as long as I’m in a great position to win it’s going to be night and day compared to how I was in Cincinnati.”
The numbers scream he is a veteran plodder at this point. A major reason why Cincinnati moved him to Houston.
Joe Mixon in 2023:
– 12.1% avoided tackle rate (33rd of 35 qualified RBs)
– 2.51 yards after contact per rush (32nd)
– 73.8 PFF rush grade (24th)He was at least okay in short-yardage situations:
– 19th in goal line success rate
– 26th in success rate with ≤3 yards to first— Jacob Gibbs (@jagibbs_23) July 10, 2024
JOE MIXON AINT HAVING NONE OF THAT AGING RB NARRATIVE‼️
