The Washington Commanders will hold a joint practice with the New York Jets on Thursday, ahead of the preseason opener on Saturday. The Commanders had the day off Wednesday as they traveled to Florham Park, New Jersey.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh spoke to the media Wednesday, and it’s clear he has tremendous respect for Washington’s new leadership.
“I love DQ,” Saleh said of Dan Quinn. Saleh worked under Quinn in Seattle for two seasons as a defensive quality control assistant while Quinn was the defensive coordinator.
“Elite human being, elite mind, elite motivator, everything about him is unbelievable. If you spend a minute with you, you’re going to want another hour. He speaks the right messages; he treats people the right way, and he demands and commands the most out of everybody. “I know they’re excited about that quarterback too, so really excited for him and Adam Peters, their GM. They’re going to get that franchise turned around.”
Saleh spent four seasons in San Francisco as the 49ers defensive coordinator, the first four years that Peters was with the team as the vice president of player personnel.
Everyone roots for Dan Quinn and Adam Peters. Whether it’s watching the team-produced “Commanders Log,” where everyone around the NFL congratulated both Quinn and Peters in their new roles, or hearing how others talk about them, they are universally respected.
It’s a brand new era in Washington.
