The Tennessee Titans made a big splash, at an affordable price, to add a potentially high-impact veteran on defense by signing safety Jamal Adams ahead of training camp getting underway.
Adams arrives in Tennessee, where he’ll reunite with defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson, who was the 28-year-old’s position coach with the New York Jets when he made a pair of Pro Bowl appearances.
Last season, Adams appeared in only 14 games before suffering a season-ending knee injury but still finished with 48 total tackles over that span while holding opposing receivers to 10.4 yards per carry when quarterbacks targeted him and making 21 run-stops.
Tennessee Titans Hoping Buying Low on Jamal Adams Pays Dividends
Tennessee offers Adams familiarity, and the Titans are betting that Adams’ presence will elevate the defense, but are hardly paying a premium.
According to NFL insider Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, the Titans are signing Adams to a one-year deal worth at least $1.125 million guaranteed.
If Adams is capable of returning anywhere close to peak form, this move will wind up being a success, especially in a division where the Titans now must contend with the likes of wunderkind quarterback C.J. Stroud, Trevor Lawrence, and rising star Anthony Richardson.
