The Houston Texans reported for training camp on Wednesday and today will be the first day of practice, which will be kicking off any minute now. Before the players settled in to get started preparing for the 2024 NFL season, general manager Nick Caserio had a brief press conference with the media.
Right away, Caserio noticed how much more attention the team has drawn this year. As he got up to the podium he commented on the assembled media being 10 rows deep.

Star quarterback C.J. Stroud and head coach DeMeco Ryans certainly deserve some of the credit, but Caserio brought them in and his roster construction is the main reason why there’s so much more interest in the Texans this year. Since the end of the 2022 season, he has done a magnificent job of building up a potential Super Bowl contender in an incredibly short amount of time.
After winning 10 games in 2023 and advancing to the divisional round of the playoffs, the Texans followed up with a very aggressive offseason as far as player acquisition goes. Houston traded for Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon and superstar wide receiver Stefon Diggs, and in free agency they signed Danielle Hunter and Denico Autry to boost their defensive line. Anything can happen when the games begin, but Caserio has built one of the strongest teams in the league on paper.
