You might be gutted to learn there will not be a reunion episode following Love Island 2024, ITV has confirmed to The Tab. Usually, not long after the final, the Islanders gather in the Aftersun studio to give their final opinions on the villa drama, go through some of the highlights, and we get a catchup with all the couples who are still together.
However, it has been confirmed this will not be happening this year. ITV told The Tab that the reunion episode isn’t taking place this year, because of how good the finale itself was, and how dramatic the final weeks of the show this year were.
ITV is said to have focussed all of its efforts on a high production final for us to enjoy, and has decided against a reunion episode as the show continues its efforts to mix things up for us every year. ITV told The Tab new and fresh aspects of the show, such as the Islanders returning ahead of the final to send Joey and Jessy packing, took priority this year.
The Love Island reunion episode has previously taken a similar format to an Aftersun episode, but the audience seats get filled by all of the Islanders too. Maya Jama would usually go through some of the biggest moments of the season, and the final couples have their own interviews on the sofa with her.
The extra episode is an explosive catch-up show, where the Islanders meet up again for the first time since leaving the villa. They awkwardly have to sit and chat to people they pied and didn’t get on with, and talk about everything that went down over the eight weeks.
I guess this year we’ll just have to keep up with them all in their Instagram posts, countless Instagram lives and podcast chats the Islanders will inevitably do.
