Steve Kerr knows a thing or two about winning championships in the NBA. He has four NBA titles as head coach of the Golden State Warriors. As a player, he won five rings during his stints with the Chicago Bulls and the San Antonio Spurs.
In other words, he’s someone credible enough to advise about winning at the highest level of basketball. To that end, Kerr recently gave his opinion on what the reigning NBA champions Boston Celtics can expect as they look to go back-to-back in the 2024-25 campaign.

US coach Steve Kerr won five NBA titles as a player for the Bulls and Spurs and four as the Warriors’ coach. I asked him what challenges the Celtics will face as they attempt to become the first team to repeat as champions since Kerr’s Warriors in 2017-18.
“When you first win it, I think you have a deeper level of confidence,” Kerr said. “To me, that first time that you try to repeat is actually a little easier. You do it a couple of times and you’re actually exhausted. You try to do it a third time, a fourth time, you go to the Finals three, four, five times in a row, it’s utterly exhausting. “But if you win one, you’ve got a deeper level of confidence than you had before and I think that really matters to teams.”
The Celtics are looking like big favorites to win it all again in the next season. They still have their mighty core of Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday, and Kristaps Porzingis. That’s not to mention Derrick White, who is also playing for Kerr’s Team USA in Paris.
The Golden State Warriors did not make the NBA Playoffs proper last season, but they can expect to contend for a postseason spot.
