The Golden Bachelor star Gerry Turner may be trying to rehabilitate his reputation after ruining it on the series, but his recent attempts to make himself likable have been failures. Gerry, who was introduced as the lead of The Golden Bachelor season 1 after a nationwide search, seemed like he was hopeful to find love on reality TV after the tragic loss of his wife, Toni Turner. Gerry had shared that he hadn’t dated since his wife’s passing, coming into the show hopeful that one of the women in the cast would be a perfect match for his golden years.
“I’m actually entertained by the pettiness of haters.”
In recent Instagram posts on his “Nomad Granddad Tour” across the U.S., Gerry has been sharing his trip and clapping back at so-called haters in his comments section. In response to a comment in which someone asked Gerry to go away, he offered a response that, while accurate, wasn’t necessary.
“This is my Instagram,” Gerry replied to the commenter. “How about you feel free to not show up here?” While Gerry is correct that he has the right to post whatever he’d like online and those who choose to engage are making the decision to do so, saying it feels like too much. Gerry largely ignores the critical comments he gets, so responding to one is likely somewhat confusing for Bachelor Nation.
Gerry Turner Is “Entertained” By “Pettiness Of Haters”
The Comment He Responds To Isn’t Necessarily “Hate”
While Gerry has been quiet throughout the time after his divorce from Theresa Nist was announced, he’s been active on social media. While he receives critical comments on every post, some may be perceived as hate when they aren’t. @Tanaricevandeputte shared, “Hey- @goldengerryturner, flip your view of the pictures so the states aren’t backward. OR, if you don’t care, leave as is.” Gerry chose to clap back at the commenter, seemingly calling them out. “I’m actually entertained by the pettiness of haters,” Gerry shared. “I always wonder–do they go to church? Do they support a charity? Curious isn’t it?”
While Gerry may not be looking for fights, he seems to find some heated exchanges in his Instagram comments. Rather than paying attention to the criticism, Gerry largely ignores the comments and chooses to move on with his life instead. When Gerry does engage, it usually seems quite performative and damages his reputation further. While it’s likely that Gerry is fed up with the amount of backlash he gets and sometimes feels the need to reply instead of ignoring it entirely, his reputation has been destroyed in such a major way that Bachelor Nation struggles to empathize.
As there’s more time and space from The Golden Bachelor, the attention on Gerry has been changing in nature. While there’s been some major negativity toward Gerry after his time as The Golden Bachelor star and his marriage to Theresa ended, things have been quieting down as The Golden Bachelorette season 1 approaches this fall. For Gerry, who’s happily documenting his tour of the U.S. on social media, the attention may not be a bad thing, considering he was partially looking for fame by joining The Golden Bachelor in the first place.
