Former Boston Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy has landed a big opportunity.
Former Boston Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy is regarded as one of the top coaches in the sport. Now, he has been rewarded for it.
Team Canada announced that Cassidy will be one of their four assistant coaches for the 4 Nations Face-Off next year. The other assistant coaches who will join Cassidy are Peter DeBoer, Rick Tocchet, and Misha Donskov.
Bruins GM Don Sweeney, who also holds the position for Team Canada, was one of five staff members who picked their new coaches. Jim Nill, Julien BriseBois, Kyle Dubas, and Scott Salmond also had a say on the new coaching staff.
When looking at Cassidy’s resume, it is understandable that Canada has decided to bring him on board. He currently sports a 388-206-70 record as a head coach split between the Washington Capitals, Bruins, and Vegas Golden Knights. He notably led Vegas to the Stanley Cup in 2023 as well, just one year after being fired by Boston.
