Former 76ers star drops wild take on Kelly Oubre after viral lashing out

Considering the major flak that their previous game garnered, it’s safe to say that the Philadelphia 76ers ran into an unfair obstacle in the form of the referees in their tight loss to the LA Clippers the other night. The final minute saw the 76ers get absolutely clobbered on their way to a potential game-winner, only for the refs to turn a blind eye.

Kelly Oubre Jr. apologizes for verbal outburst against refs: 'It wasn't cool' / News - Basketnews.com

Kelly Oubre Jr., who paced the 76ers with a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double, made waves all over social media after he brazenly cussed out the officials after the buzzer sounded, following Nurse, who also approached the officials at mid-court to question the lack of a no-call in the final possession of the game on an Oubre attempt with the 76ers down one.

In anticipation of a fine from league officials, which is likely, a 76ers star went ahead and shot for the laughs, or did he really?

Former 76ers star Lou Williams drops wild take on Kelly Oubre’s then-impending fine

Lou Williams, who is all too familiar with the tidings in Philly, was asked about what his thoughts on the verabl dust-up between Oubre (and Nurse) and the officials. His response was a cheeky one directed at the league’s decision-makers regarding fines, making an example out of oft-maligned star Draymond Green, the king of penalties.

“So Kelly Oubre doesn’t have a history of this type of thing right? If this is Draymond Green, the world blows up today… This is $25,000 per b*tch without a doubt.”

To be fair, Oubre and Nurse were both fined $50,000 each for their actions, but there is indeed some backing to the fact that the league could have gone to further lengths if both individuals had a reputation of lashing out at the officials consistently.

Oubre went on to apologize quickly after the game, but the NBA naturally fined him regardless. For now, the team has no choice but to move on quickly, though they lost another tight outing to the Cavaliers last night.

As of now, the Philadelphia 76ers snugly stand in eighth place in the East and at the thick of the play-in tournament picture with a 39-35 record with just eight games remaining.
