Happy Aug. 11, Blackhawks fans. One month from today, the Blackhawks are expected to have rookies on the ice for camp in Chicago. That’s one month away, folks. It’s coming. In the meantime, can I interest you in a fun Nick Foligno interview? He talks about a lot here with John Scott, including his role in working with Connor Bedard as a rookie. His candid answers about the Bruins’ playoff failure in 2023, what made Daniel Alfredsson a great captain and other anecdotes are reminders of why so many people in the game love Foligno. This is a fun watch/listen.
- As a reminder, this week we took a trip back through Blackhawks history to look at players from the nearly 100 years of the organization who have performed well enough to win individual awards.
- Calder Memorial Trophy
- Vezina Trophy
- Art Ross Trophy
- Norris Trophy
- Hart Trophy
- Other Individual Awards
- Ben Pope is absolutely right. There are going to be a lot of “who? he’s where?” moments for all of us early this season. For Sunday at the Chicago Sun-Times, Ben wrote about Pat Maroon and what the Big Rig brings to Chicago. He should be a lot of fun to watch and talk to this year.
- I don’t think we’re talking nearly enough about the possibility that Landon Slaggert pushes his way into an NHL roster spot this season. He’s an older, more mature prospect than most of the other players who will head to Rockford this season. He was the captain at Notre Dame this past season and showed well in a variety of roles with the Blackhawks during his brief, 16-game debut last season.
- I know the Blackhawks don’t have a prospect at Notre Dame this year because Slaggert’s in Chicago, but this pic hit me right in the hockey feels.
