Kyle Pitts has been one of the most unique players in the NFL but has failed to hit his potential since being the fourth pick in the 2021 NFL draft. However, it seems the new coaching staff of the Atlanta Falcons is ready to try to unlock him entering his fourth season.
When speaking to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson discussed how the team plans to use Pitts this season.
“He’s learning basically two different positions,” Robinson said. “There’s some tight end and there’s some receiver. So, he’s got a lot on his plate. He’s handled it really well. I’m just excited to see him continue to get more comfortable in the system. We’ll move him around the formation. We’ll use him as a blocker. We’ll use him as a receiver. We’ll use him all across the board.”
With new head coach Raheem Mostert ready to get this offense going, it will be intriguing to see how the Falcons decide to use Pitts.
Last season, Pitts with 53 catches on 90 targets for 667 yards (12.6 yards per reception) with a career-high three touchdown receptions.
What should we expect out of Kyle Pitts in 2024?
Pitts has shown the ability to be a dominant pass-catching option for the Falcons before. He had more than 1,000 receiving yards and made the Pro Bowl as a rookie. However, there is a significant change that we have not talked about: the quarterback.
With Kirk Cousins expected to be the Week 1 starter under center, this will be the first time that Pitts has a legitimate quarterback that can get him the football consistently.
This offense is ready to explode, and Pitts should be a legitimate 1-2 threat with wide receiver Drake London. This report makes it seem like Robinson sees the potential there as well.
If the Falcons want to be considered a serious threat and want to extend the fifth-year option on Pitts, they need to begin getting the ball his way more often.
This team has a lot of offensive firepower with running back Bijan Robinson, as well, but Kyle Pitts is going to be the key to success for this Falcons team in the 2024 season.
