Throughout Season 14 of Real Housewives of New Jersey, Dolores Catania called herself “playing Switzerland” by trying to broker peace between the two warring sides of friends. If you’ve seen the finale, then you know Dolores failed at that job miserably. Absolutely nothing got accomplished, and her attempts to mediate the situation went up in flames like that house in the Berkshires.
Now that the season has wrapped, Dolores is defending her role in the ongoing drama. She wants people to know that she tried her best to mend fences, not play both sides of them.
Dolores got caught in the middle
Dolores appeared as a guest on Watch What Happens Live right after the RHONJ Season 14 finale aired, and she had a lot of crap to wade through with Andy Cohen. During the episode, a shady viewer submitted a question that put Dolores on the defense. They wanted to know when she would stop playing both sides of the fence.
“I try to keep the peace,” Dolores explained, disagreeing with the caller’s sentiment. “Playing both sides of the fence is turning on one behind their back. I do nothing behind anybody’s back.”
“I want to keep the peace,” she reiterated.
That’s rich coming from the woman who screamed the C-word at a castmate during the Season 14 finale and said less than ten audible words during the explosive Rails sitdown. Regardless, Dolores praised her Season 14 performance and defended her “neutral” position. She cautioned that it’s not always as easy as it looks.
“You know the abuse I take off camera? You have no idea,” Dolores claimed.
Season 14 of Real Housewives of New Jersey concludes with a special rewatch episode called, “Off The Rails.” It airs Sunday, August 11, at 8/7c on Bravo.
