Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky have been navigating many emotional moments amid their separation, which they first announced in July 2023. While the pair have yet to formally divorce, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member has been candid in the past about the couple’s finances when they married nearly two decades ago. Kyle has opened up about if she signed a prenup with The Agency founder when they wed in 1996. Here’s what we know.
Did Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky sign a prenup when they married?
Kyle and Mauricio did not have a prenuptial agreement when they got married.
A prenuptial agreement is a legally binding contract both parties sign before entering into a union of marriage. The contract is meant to specify how a couple decides to divide their assets, debts, and spousal support in the event of death or divorce, and Kyle and Mauricio didn’t agree to such a contract when they wed in 1996.
“We did not have a prenup. My husband did not have a penny when I married him…” Kyle said during a January appearance on Jeff Lewis Live. “He was in the clothing business when I met him, making no money.”
Kyle added that the couple “built everything together.”
